The Calgary Zoo Call for Submissions

The Calgary Zoo is proud to introduce its second year of the ILLUMINASIA Chinese Lantern and Garden Festival every Thursday through Sunday from September 8th - October 16th, 2016. This night time festival will display hundreds of traditional and non-traditional lanterns as well as live cultural entertainment and programming for all ages. The zoo is currently seeking artists to assist in producing artwork for our Asian gallery to be on display each evening of the festival from 7:00 to 10:00pm.

Town of Stony Plain Call for Visual Artists

The Town of Stony Plain is seeking visual artists to create artwork on pianos for the Town’s first outdoor piano project. This program is an initiative of the Cultural Master Plan and a step toward the goal of enlivening areas of the Town through public Art. The pianos will be donated and painted or decorated by visual artists, and then placed in outdoor pedestrian-friendly locations throughout the Town of Stony Plain. The pianos will be available throughout the summer months to be played by passers-by. The pianos will be protected as much as possible from the elements by the inclusion of a tarp on site but should be considered a temporary piece. This project is open to individuals or artist teams and submissions can be general or related to one of the locations where the pianos will be placed.
