Gallery at Milner Call for Submissions

The Edmonton Public Library invites emerging artists working in any two-dimensional or three-dimensional medium to submit proposals to show art work in the Gallery at Milner. The Gallery is located on the main floor of the downtown Stanley A. Milner Library and has wall space, as well as 6 display cases of various sizes, available for exhibition. Submitted proposals may include use of the walls and/or the display cases. Any three-dimensional works proposed must fit within our gallery display cases. We are seeking to exhibit the works of Edmonton and area artists who have achieved consistency in style and form.

What is your gender? Why does it matter? Where, and to whom? How do you show it? live it? How do others see it? Do you have just one? This is a call to help us produce a video installation to be shown in the Trans Trans exhibition at the Nickle Galleries at the University of Calgary from May 27 to June 10, 2016. The exhibition will tell a story about transatlantic transfers of knowledge about human sexual diversity and trans identity from Germany in the first decades of the twentieth century to the United States in the 1950s and 1960s, and it will promote reflection on the relevance of this story for our present.
