Recognizing the AFA
AFA is proud to support artists and arts organizations in their pursuit of artistic excellence. AFA is also proud to support thriving arts organizations since they provide the foundation for many arts-related activities in Alberta. In return for our support, we ask that all grant recipients acknowledge and include AFA in their recognition/marketing materials. By recognizing AFA as a sponsor or supporter, you help bring awareness of our grant funding opportunities to other artists and arts organizations, and through this simple acknowledgement you help raise further public support for the arts and help make Alberta a culturally diverse and interesting place to live and visit..
To assist grant recipients, we have created recognition guidelines that explain the following four AFA-approved recognition methods in detail:
Funding accreditation to AFA is a grant requirement. The guidelines have been provided to assist AFA clients in acknowledging Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
Clients interested in using the Government of Alberta logo should visit the Government of Alberta Corporate Identity site. Make sure to read the Corporate Identity Manual and contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.

Use of the AFA Logo
The AFA logo:
- is to be used only to identify activities, events, exhibitions, or productions that have received support from Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and may not be used for commercial or business purposes without the express permission of Alberta Foundation for the Arts
- is available to AFA clients in a camera-ready format and may also be downloaded from the AFA website
- must appear on all *promotional/communication materials produced to market activities/events directly funded by AFA or for organizations that receive operating support from the AFA
*Production programs, handbills, newspaper advertising, promotional brochures, exhibition catalogues, concert programs, invitations, conference brochures/proceedings, sound recording covers or booklets and all other forms of printed materials used for the purposes of promotions and communications

2. Print Acknowledgement
AFA support must be acknowledged in your print materials (although the logo does not necessarily have to appear):

3. Oral Acknowledgement
When programs or other printed materials are not produced by the client, and in the case of radio broadcasts, oral recognition is to be given to the AFA during sponsor acknowledgements, or as is otherwise appropriate, prior to the commencement of each event or performance. If an oral announcement is not feasible, the AFA logo should be shown on event signage. Credit lines: We acknowledge the support of the Province of Alberta through Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

On websites, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts should be credited on the list of sponsors and supporters or on pages describing events/activities funded by the AFA. A link to the Alberta Foundation for the Arts website (www.affta.ab.ca) on the grant recipient’s website is not a requirement, but is encouraged.
5. Other Methods Of Recognition
Your organization/group may want to include a slogan specific to your type of arts event. Below are examples of possible messages.
- Play: Helping tonight live happily ever after.
- Mystery Theatre: Funding from the AFA is helping you find out whodunit.
- Children’s Event: This event is brought to you in part by the letters A-F-A.
- Ballet: We help keep the arts on its toes.
- Opera: Helping tonight end on a high note.

6. Beyond the Requirements
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts is committed to raising greater awareness about the importance of the arts in Alberta. Below are some ways that individuals or organizations can help spread this important message:
AFA has various communication materials that you may wish to distribute at your event or activity. Contact us if you are interested in receiving any of these materials or using the display.
Invite a member of the AFA Board of Directors to your event or activity to talk about the importance of the arts.
