ASA Open Call for Artists

The Alberta Society of Artists (ASA) invites all artists, Members and Non-Members (18 years and over), residing in Alberta to submit work of any visual medium to our in-house and partner gallery space for the 2026 season! Artists may apply as a solo artist or a small group show but all submissions are encouraged to have a strong theme or concept expressed through the body of work both at the submission stage and in the final Exhibition. Write On! The Songwriting Experience is an 8-month mentorship program based in Calgary, Alberta, designed to support and develop emerging songwriters. Launching its fifth season in September 2025, the program offers a comprehensive journey from songwriting to music release. Applications for the 2025–2026 season are now open, with a deadline of July 31, 2025. The program is open to songwriters of all levels and genres with a passion for community and collaboration. Call to Artists: Become a Gallery Shop Artists

The Gallery Shop retail spaces in both Edmonton and Calgary generate sales for artists, provide valuable career mentorship, product feedback, learning opportunities for the public, and revenue for the Alberta Craft Council to deliver additional programming.  

Who is this call for? We encourage all levels from emerging to established artists working in craft specific media to apply if they are looking for a retail venue to develop their career. Applicants must be Alberta-based artists.  

Early Career Banff Artist in Residence 2026

Open to artists working in all visual arts mediums, this program is faculty-led while providing space, time, and support towards the development of an agreed-upon studio project. 

As well as having the opportunity to research, experiment, and create, participants are part of a community of emerging artists committed to developing and expanding their practice. They will participate in faculty-led conversations around the contexts that artists establish for the production and presentation of their work.

Dancers Intensive 2026 | Apply Now

Overview  

This two-week immersive residency offers individual dancers the opportunity to explore and embody the unique choreographic languages of three internationally acclaimed dance artists - Kirsten Wicklund, Marie Gyselbrecht, and Cyril Baldy.

Participants will rotate through choreographic labs with each faculty artist, taking part in daily technique and improvisation classes that support embodied exploration.
