J. P. Cormier and Jake Lauzon - Maritime Guitar Greats!

Concert - January 13, 2026, 7:30 pm
J. P. started touring when he was just sixteen, and he’s still at it. We are thrilled to have him back in Edmonton, after appearances at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and several folk clubs where he sells out houses! He has worked as a session musician, been on the festival circuit, played at the Grand Ole Opry, and been a sideman for musicians such as Waylon Jennings, Marty Stuart, Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Stompin' Tom Connors, and others.

People still leave J. P.'s shows amazed and wondering what they just saw. Did they see a storyteller? Songwriter? Someone who crosses the lines between different instruments like there are no lines?  Arguably one of the best guitar players today? Of all the things he is, foremost, an entertainer.

This winter, J.P. is touring with Jake Lauzon. Jake has followed a similar path to J. P., drawn to folk, roots and bluegrass, and has become an accomplished guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He has a busy schedule freelancing, recording and teaching. His music has taken him to many North American stages, including performances at the Celtic Colours International Festival, and Nashville’s renowned Station Inn, touring with “Nothin’ Fancy’’ and Dave Gunning and J.P. Cormier.
