How do you know the difference between a Mastodon and a Mammoth tooth? How about a Bison’s foot from a Horse’s? These skills and many more are key for Paleontologists as they piece together Alberta’s frozen past.
In this workshop, the Royal Alberta Museum's Quaternary Paleontology Team will teach you basic comparative anatomy of Ice Age fossils, and how you can examine a skeleton to identify an animal group or species.
Have you ever wished you could use the Royal Alberta Museum’s collections for sketching inspiration? Now’s your chance! We'll be showcasing rarely seen museum objects to create a still-life setup for you to practice your drawing skills.
This month, in honour of Veterans’ Week, we will be displaying objects with a theme of remembrance. There will be a range of objects: a peace dove, military uniforms, badges, medals, gas masks, poppies, trench art, and more.
TREX SW is pleased to announce the launch of Odd Objects: Things We Believe In, curated by Levin Ifko and featuring work from Mantis Mei, Teresa Tam and Pamela Vickerson. The exhibition will complete a two-year tour of the province with the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Travelling Exhibition (TREX) program.
Youth Singers of Calgary (YSC) is celebrating four decades of inspiring performers. To commemorate this occasion, YSC is hosting Spotlight YSC, a free one-day community celebration on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre. Discover the history of the Youth Singers throughout the decades.
Our 2025/26 season opens with Mexicana Ensemble led by celebrated singer Gisela Romero. A deeply personal and vibrant musical journey into the singer herself, this project pays homage to her roots by fusing the traditions of Mexican and Latin American folk music with contemporary jazz, flamenco, salsa, and huapango elements.

The world premiere of a holiday musical for the whole family based on Stuart McLean’s beloved Vinyl Cafe stories. The musical weaves together some of McLean’s most popular stories, such as: “Dave Cooks the Turkey” and “Rashida, Amir and the Great Gift-Giving” into a hilarious celebration of the highs and lows of the holiday season and the importance of community and family.
