The Next Generation Indie Book Awards, currently in its nineteenth year, is the largest international awards program for indie authors and independent publishers. The Indie Book Awards is now accepting entries from independent publishers and authors worldwide who have a book written in English and released in 2024, 2025, 2026 or with 2024, 2025, or 2026 copyright date. For the 2026 awards program, the Indie Book Awards offers 80+ categories.
The Next Generation Short Story Awards is a not-for-profit awards program open to authors writing original unpublished short stories (5,000 words or less per story) in English. Brought to you by the Next Generation Indie Book Awards (NGIBA) and Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group (IBPPG), the 2026 Next Generation Short Story Awards offers 30+ categories, and is open to all authors, even first-time authors, in the U.S., Canada or internationally.

Festival City Winds Music Society invites you to come and enjoy its 30th Anniversary Concert entitled A Path Forward under the direction of Wendy J. Grasdahl and Dr. Eila Peterson. All four of the Festival City Winds bands (Novice Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble) will perform a variety of selections in Edmonton’s historic First Presbyterian Church (10025 105 ST NW) on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $20 for Adults and $5 for Children 12 and Under as well as those on Income Support.

Edmonton International Jazz Festival runs for nine days of live performances from Saturday June 21 until Sunday June 29 in some of the finest music venues throughout Edmonton. Orcas: Our Shared Future is an immersive, interactive exhibition featuring life-size Orca replicas, fossils, films, objects from popular culture, and original artwork from the Indigenous peoples of the North American west coast.
Highlights include:
Learn the fundamentals of improv in a fun and supportive environment. Students will build a strong foundation of self-acceptance, spontaneity, and playfulness as they learn to make up scenes on the spot. This class will focus on the basics of improv and how to get started as a performer. Join long-practicing improviser and teacher Cayley McConaghy for an engaging and high-energy experience.
