2026 Call for Board Members
SNAP is seeking 2-5 new folks to join our Board of Directors. If you have a passion or curiosity for art, printmaking, or arts organizations, we would love to connect with you! Board directors are our community liaisons — building and nurturing connections with, and for, the communities our members live, work, and create in. Interested individuals should have an openness to thought, curiosity and tenacity to re-envision systems of accountability, sustainability, and equity. Applicants with experience in fundraising, event planning, or who are interested in joining our Executive committee are of particular interest at this time. Successful candidates will get involved in key initiatives that are centered in accessible printmaking, inclusive learning, sustainable finances and facilities as we pursue our strategic five-year plan and implement our next steps. Please send an expression of interest by April 30th.
Who we are:
SNAP is a non-profit dedicated to printmaking in all of its traditional and contemporary forms, celebrating its 44th year. As an artist-run centre, and a registered charity, SNAP is supported by a small staff and active board.
What we do:
The Board is responsible for SNAP’s governance, with Directors championing our goals of artistic development, inclusive education and sustainable financial futures. Responsible for the organization’s good governance, SNAP’s Board of Directors champion our Strategic plan, and help in community-building through governance, policies and procedures. Directors are elected by our membership for a minimum two-year renewable term. The role typically requires approximately 5-10 volunteer hours per month, including attendance at board meetings, with each board member sitting on a committee. Applicants with no prior board experience are very welcome.
How to apply:
All applicants are welcome to express their interest in the media that best represents
themselves (phone call, letter of interest, video…). Expressions of interest can be sent to our President Kelsey Stephenson at board@snapartists.com, please add “Attn: Join Board” to the email subject line. Alternatively, you may call SNAP directly and be put in touch with our Executive Director Caitlin Bodewitz. We recognize community members may face barriers when applying and if you require accommodations, please contact us by email director@snapartists.com or phone (780-423-1492).
● Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis, with a soft deadline of April 30th to give time for orientation and information sessions in mid May
● SNAP’s 2026 Annual General Meeting is on June 13, 2026, where new board directors are voted in by membership
Accessibility:
We acknowledge SNAP's position as part of a larger colonial system that has participated in the dispossession of First Nation, Metis, Inuit peoples in Amiskwaciwâskahikan, otherwise known as Edmonton (Beaver Hills House). We recognize that Artist-Run-Centres here – including SNAP- have long excluded Indigenous peoples and BIPOC voices. SNAP aims to redress this by continually working to foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive printmaking experience situated in the O-day’min ward (heart berry- the heart through which the North Saskatchewa River runs). This means SNAP is actively foregrounding Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, newcomer and working-class community members in our leadership and programming.
SNAP has a strong history of being a safe queer space to create, learn and exhibit outstanding printwork. Today, SNAP continues to bring folks from across Treaty 6 and Northern Alberta together to print and exhibit artwork that meaningfully reflects and expands print media. SNAP is committed to being here for the long run and Directors are key to bringing the heart-work and resourcefulness that in turn grows the next generation of print artists.
We can’t wait to connect with you!
