Celebrate the Month of the Artist by visiting Montageries before it closes

Throughout its three-year tour around Alberta, Montageries has travelled as far north as Grande Cache and as far south as Elkwater. Now at its final stop at the AFA art house in Calgary, Albertans have one last chance to see this exhibition during the Month of the Artist in September before it closes. Montageries, curated by Ash Slemming is one of many unique art exhibitions created through the AFA’s Travelling Exhibitions (TREX) program. Developed by TREX Regional partner the Alberta Society of Artists, Montageries reached more than 38,000 Albertans in 27 venues across the province.
Since 1981, TREX has brought contemporary art to hundreds of Alberta’s diverse communities. Hundreds of thousands of peoplev visit TREX yearly, and every show features artwork by Albertan artists.
About the curator
Ash Slemming is a dynamic creative force—an artist, curator, designer, and educator shaping contemporary visual storytelling in Southern Alberta. Utilizing a curated but conversational approach, Ash has spent nearly a decade building accessible, collaborative exhibitions with key cultural partners. From the AFA TREX Program to the Exposure Photography Festival, Ash wears many hats to ensure diverse voices are amplified across the Treaty 7 region.
