Arts in Focus - Quickdraw Animation Society | Celebrating Pride in the Arts

In celebration of Pride Month, we are pleased to shine a spotlight on Quickdraw Animation Society’s LGBTQ2S+ Animation History Project.
The project sparked a conversation about the queer history of animation, elevating the works of queer artists that were historically underrepresented and undercelebrated.
In this AFA Arts in Focus feature, Executive Director, Val Duncan and Artistic Director, Ryan Von Hagen discuss how the operational funding received from the AFA allowed them to share the history of queer animators with their community. The project led to the publication of a book that featured essays and zines – filling a gap in queer history by providing a space where these stories can be told and allow the queer community to see themselves represented in the arts.
