artsPlace is located on the land of the Treaty 7 people. artsPlace is Canmore’s community arts centre. We offer classes, workshops, and public performances for all age groups and across multiple disciplines including visual arts, ceramics, textiles, fabrication, film, music, and drama. Our facility in Downtown Canmore features a number of creative spaces, including a visual arts studio, ceramics studio, fabrication studio, a black box theatre, and a gallery space.
Reporting to the Director of Fund Development the Coordinator plays a key role in advancing artsPlace’s mission to grow the arts and celebrate culture in ways that build community and enrich lives.
The role supports the coordination of fundraising activities including campaigns, events, donor and sponsor stewardship and relationship building and database management.
This is a 37.5 hour/week position starting late April/early May at a pay of $25-28/hour.
This position may be a Young Canada Works funded position in which case the candidate would need to be: between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; be a Canadian Citizen, permanent Resident or have refugee status in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada; and be a graduate from college, CEGEP or university. They also prioritize graduates who are unemployed or underemployed. Responsibilities
Campaign Management:
- Work closely with the Director of Fund Development Director and Director of Communications to coordinate annual campaigns
- Manage emailing lists in Mailchimp
- Data analysis and reporting
Event Planning:
- Supported by the Director of Fund Development and the volunteer committee, coordinate the logistics for fundraising events such as Creative Combat, donor appreciation events and prospect stewardship events.
- Coordinate strategic initiatives such as Silent auctions and Raffles.
Donor Stewardship & Cultivation:
- Supporting/ assisting with our donor stewardship program and stewardship activities such as acknowledgements, recognition, communications, impact reporting and engagement activities
- Support for increased donor engagement such as research, analysis and communications
- Maintaining accurate donor records, and contact histories
- Issuing tax receipts
Prospect Cultivation:
- Maintain accurate data information for our prospects
- Support prospect engagement through research and analysis, including using IWAVE for donor prospect research
Database Management & CRM Expertise:
- Maintain accurate donor records in the CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and excel
- Optimization of processes and database
- Database querying, segmentation, and reporting
- Generate reports to track progress toward financial goals.
Sponsorship Management:
- Manage benefit fulfillment
- Reporting to existing sponsors
Grants
- Support the Director of Fund Development in the writing and reporting of grants through data analysis and reporting and other supports as needed.
- May include some grant writing
General duties
- Maintaining a strong knowledge of our various tools and systems and creating efficiencies, streamlining and systems optimization, including using AI when appropriate.
- Other duties as needed

- Has studied in a related field or has past experience that will support you in this position (eg project management, fundraising, marketing, business).
- Can work independently, as a team player including working with volunteers
- Has a passion for the arts and creativity and an appreciation of multiple art forms;
- Understands and appreciates mountain culture;
- Is motivated by how fundraising builds capacity that enables artsPlace’ mission and supports arts and creativity in the community;
- Has a familiarity with, and understanding of, the diverse communities and demographic groups that make up Canmore and the Bow Valley;
- Experience using digital tools such as Microsoft office and in particular excel.
- Interest or experience working for a charitable or not-for-profit organization is a bonus.
