Executive Director – LUMINOUS VOICES
LUMINOUS VOICES, Calgary’s award-winning professional chamber choir, is seeking an Executive Director to drive organizational growth through fund development, grant writing/reporting, and providing leadership to the team and Board, commencing in August 2025. The addition of this new role is a pivotal step in the ongoing success and evolution of Luminous Voices as a leader in choral arts in Canada.
Overview of Role:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will collaborate closely with the Artistic Director and General Manager to align and deliver the artistic and administrative priorities within the organization’s strategic vision.
This hybrid part-time position (averaging 20 hours/week, with increased hours during peak times) requires a passionate advocate for the arts who excels in strategic thinking, relationship-building, and revenue generation to ensure long-term sustainability.
Candidates must be based locally in the greater Calgary region to engage effectively and support organizational needs. Compensation is $45 – 50/hr, commensurate with experience.
Key Deliverables:
Strategic Management and Leadership
- Oversee long-term strategic planning and responsible financial stewardship to support organizational stability and growth.
- Work effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders, including a volunteer board, artists, funders, sponsors, arts organizations & community partners, volunteers, and audience members.
- Oversee and deliver day-to-day operations, including administration, human resources, and artistic project execution.
Fund Development & Grant Writing
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify revenue streams, securing government, foundation, corporate, and individual support.
- Lead the grant writing process, ensuring strong proposals and timely submissions, along with compliance in reporting.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners to expand funding opportunities and donor engagement.
Community Engagement & Communications
- Act as the public face of Luminous Voices, alongside the Artistic Director, building strategic partnerships and representing the organization at events.
- Oversee marketing and audience development efforts to increase visibility and deepen community engagement.
Must Haves - Donor relations, sales, or equivalent fundraising experience
- Grant, proposal, or persuasive presentation writing experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to deliver maximum impact with available resources.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong collaborative approach.
Nice to Haves:
Financial and operational oversight experience, including budgeting and reporting—ideally within a non-profit or arts organization.
