Join us October 14 to 18, 2026 to Celebrate 20 Years of LitFest: Canada’s Original Nonfiction Festival
Every October, LitFest transforms Edmonton's downtown into a creative hub for readers, writers, and those who love true stories. Over the course of five days, LitFest activities and events will take place throughout Edmonton in the form of readings, panels, and workshops with some of today’s most exciting nonfiction voices.
LitFest will once again bring bestselling authors, award-winning journalists, emerging voices, and local storytellers to the stage.
Readers, writers, story consumers, and anyone who loves real, authentic stories are welcome to attend and participate. There are a variety of dynamic events happening during the festival that everyone can look forward to.
Noteworthy Festival Events:
- Double book launch of Vivel Shraya and Kai Cheng Thom, “The World We Long For”
- Author Aaron Hughes (with host Paula Simons) presents his book about the history of the Canadian constitution
- Panel discussing nonfiction in theatre and playwriting
- Local press showcases of Laberinto Press, The Polyglot, and Agatha Press
This year’s theme, “Nonfiction shows us who we are,” addresses not only the readers and writers of nonfiction, but the people who are at the core of, and live these very stories.
We invite everyone to attend LitFest, taking place October 14 to 18, 2026 at two unique venues in Edmonton: The Stanley A. Milner library and The Citadel Theatre downtown.
