Call for Submissions: 2027 KDays Artist in Residence

We welcome early and mid-career artists and collectives practicing visual arts mediums to apply. The residency provides opportunities to connect with KDays staff throughout the year, and site access leading up to and throughout the event. 

The call encourages artists to consider the themes of local identity, community, and/or storytelling in their submissions, as well as the characteristics and opportunities of the physical event site. 

KDays is also excited to consider opportunities for audiences to interact or engage with the project and artist(s) through developing artworks that bring Klondike Park to life.  

Please note: the artwork is meant to be temporary, available only for the duration of KDays.  

The residency provides: 

  • An artist fee of $25,000 CAD, and an additional $25,000 CAD budget for materials, production, and related project costs, to be determined collaboratively during residency 
  • We will accept applications from collectives; however, the overall program budget is fixed at $50,000 CAD 
  • Mentorship with KDays staff and previous Artist in Residents 
  • Potential access to materials & resources KDays has on site to complete artwork  
  • Visibility to 700,000 plus attendees with diverse backgrounds 

Who is eligible to apply? 

  • Individuals and/or artists collectives who self-identify as emerging or mid-career artists in the visual arts 
  • Artists who have experience working with large public audiences is an asset 
  • Artists residing in Alberta 
  • Applicants from equity-deserving communities are encouraged to apply
